Joanna Jowita Sitko, PhD, Partner

Joanna is a lawyer, patent attorney and Partner at S&C Patent.

She is also a professor at the Department of Enterprise Organisation of the Faculty of Management of the Lublin University of Technology where she gives lectures and classes on intellectual property law. Since 2009 she has been a patent attorney. She was granted a degree of Doctor of Juridical Science in 2006.

Until September 2009 she was an academic at the Department of Commercial and Business Law of the Faculty of Law and Administration of Maria Curie Sklodowska University in Lublin.

She graduated from Maria Curie Sklodowska University in Lublin (Faculty of Law and Administration) and University of Warsaw (Postgraduate Studies on Intellectual Property Law).

She was a beneficiary of the Polish Government Scholarship for research concerning the doctoral dissertation entitled: “Company Name And Its Protection” (visit to The Queen Mary Intellectual Property Research Institute in London and consultations with prof. Jeremy Phillips) as well as she was a beneficiary of French Government Scholarship in Paris (Sorbone – Université Panthéon – Assas) and internship in the law firm Kimbrough & Associés.

She is a member of International Association for the Protection of Industrial Property (AIPPI) and Polish Patent Attorneys Chamber.

Her practice focuses on counseling and litigation on protection of industrial property rights. She specialises in protection of trade marks and industrial designs according to Polish, international and European Union procedures as well as company names and copyright protection. She deals with cases involving negotiations and preparation of agreements on IP.

She is an author of many publications on intellectual property law and a speaker during domestic and international conferences.
